Fun live music venue. Good bookings. Seating isn't great but fine when you can stand. The acoustics are good and the atmosphere is intimate. The acts they get are varied, they schedule something for everyone, including glow rages, country, bluegrass, reggae/ska, hip-hop and rock; they have all ages shows too. Tickets and drinks are affordable.
Best live music venue in Mobile. What makes it the best is not the space itself, although recent renovations have upgraded the raw feel of the place into something more palatable to people not used to a small locally owned music hall. The owners pour their heart and soul into this place and have years and years of experience in booking artists. The sound equipment is second to none in the region and with its 1100 person capacity it is the perfect size venue to catch those rising stars before they start filling arenas. You're never more likely to say "I saw them when..." than at the Soul Kitchen Music Hall.
This was my first time seeing a show at the Soul Kitchen. The staff at the Soul Kitchen was one of best. The security team worked in the most professional manner. I had bought tickets in the seated area. I had a chance to watch Gene the security guard deal with several rude customers and he handled all of them swiftly, with grace. This is a great venue. The sound and space are excellent. The drinks were good. The only thing I would do different is add an extra bartender. I was impressed and I will definitely be back this was a great venue to see the Molly Ringwalds. Their show was awesome, as usual and I had a great time!!
It's not bad, but could defiantly use some renovation. It gets very crowded and hot very quickly, and the a.c. can't keep up. Even breaking Benjamin made a comment when they played tonight. Crowd gets packed in like sardines and it gets very uncomfortable. And as someone with arthritis in my knee, it's very hard to stand the entire time for a show. They do have some good shows though.
My first time there was to see Leela James in April and I enjoyed myself they have maybe 20 seats first come first serve basis.....So have on some comfortable shoes ladies. Its a nice atmosphere to chill for a minute and listen to the artist you came to see.The one thing I wish they would do different is play some other music instead of having ppl just stand around while waiting for the artist(s) to perform.
