My family and I booked this hotel because we were taking a cruise out of Mobile, Alabama. I ended up finding it at a great rate that I couldn't pass up and I must say I am very much pleased. The staff was polite, the beds were comfortable, and the complementary hot / cold breakfast was just what we needed to get our day started!
Very good hotel. As far as the hotel itself, no problems at all. Very quiet due to location. Room was clean & all amenities available were well worth the price. I definitely wouldn't mind staying again. Beware of booking through third party websites though. My reservation got lost and the receptionist had ME to call them... Even after I showed her the confirmation email with all of the details. In 1 other past experience, the receptionist and/or manager on duty would handle the mistake after I provided proof.
2: Bathroom floor was not level. When the door was opened, it scraped the tile floor and jammed. Maintenance attempted to repair, but was unsuccessful.
Pro: Complementary full breakfast. Friendly staff. Room was clean.
4: At least 5 of the other guests had to get room keys reset because the were locked out. Staff reset keys immediately.
If anyone is looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay while awaiting a cruise from the port of Mobile, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
5: One of the rooms we reserved had a bad odor. We were able to secure another room.
6: Ground floor window to room was closed, but not locked.
Over all, this place is ok for a one night stay at a discounted rate.
I had a reservation here Friday, August 11 that was canceled by staff an hour before we made it to the hotel. No one called and told me there was a "problem with my card" that they tried to run several times. But I did get a call from the lady at the front desk saying my room had been cancelled and they were now sold out. I asked to speak with a manager and she said no one was there but the GM Randy would call me the next morning. I still haven't heard from him. She admitted wrong doing on their part because front desk was supposed to call early that morning If there was a problem and they didn't. We had been on the road all day only to not have a room when we get to our destination with two toddlers is unacceptable and no one has reached out to me about the situation. We've stayed at this establishment several times and never had any problems. She referred us to another sister hotel where we would be spending way more money hoping they could accommodate us. I still would like to know why no one called if there was indeed a problem but why call me to tell me you cancelled my room and sold it to someone else. This is very unacceptable and not the treatment I know Wingate is allowing.
We stayed here for one night, on our way to Orlando FL for Christmas. Although the room was clean, there was a musky smell but goes away once the AC comes on. The bed was comfy although the sheets had stains on them.The furniture and decor are very dated and some of the wallpaper in the bathroom is peeling off. Breakfast was mediocre at best.
Con: 1: AC/HEAT control was older style, and connected to a control on wall. Could control room temperature without Maintenance help. This occurred at night, and there was no nightshift Maintenance person. Had to wait until the next day to get it repaired. Repaired next morning.
3: Dust Ruffle for mattress/boxspring had a 1 foot tear on the side facing the room entrance.
